Hammet Street Sign

I found this sign up a tiny little alleyway off Hammet Street in the town centre.

It was one of three identical signs on one wall, quite why someone was so dead against placing goods or cycles against the wall was not clear!

Three signs all on the same wall which I think used to be a house but now is mostly a row of solicitors and Estate Agents. I need to go back again and check which one it is!

It looks like a very OLD sign, certainly pre-50s. Is it a narrow passageway? -- perhaps they wanted to keep access clear.

Spot on Gerald, it would not have taken much to make it impassable to cars. I was almost pinned to the wall by one when it used the alley as a turning space.
